Stars defeat the Oilers 5-4

It was a game reminiscent of the days when the Stars faced the Oilers in the playoffs. The scoring started early, with Sam Gagner (son of former star Dave Gagner) scoring only 4 minutes into the game with assists from Robert Nilsson and Fernando Pisani. That started a see-saw effect that took the game all the way to overtime. Brenden Morrow sealed the win 4 minutes into overtime from Sergei Zubov and Matt Niskanen.

The other 3 Oilers goals came from Dustin Penner (unassisted), Tom Gilbert (from Raffi Torres and Jarret Stoll) and Shawn Horcoff (from Dustin Penner and Ales Hemsky)

Dallas also had goals from Mike Ribeiro (from Antti Miettinen and Matt Niskanen), Matt Niskanen (from Sergei Zubov and Jeff Halpern), Mike Modano (from Jussi Jokinen and Sergei Zubov) and Sergei Zubov (from Antti Miettinen and Mike Ribeiro)

The Stars managed to tally 14 points from 8 different players.

The 3 Stars of the game were Dustin Penner with one goal and one assist, Antti Miettinen with two assists and Sergei Zubov taking the number 1 slot with 1 goal and 3 assists on the night.

The Stars take on the Los Angeles Kings Thursday and will travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers again on December 18.

I’m of the opinion that Matt Niskanen should have been third star of the game, but I’m also a little biased.
