Stars start 4 game home stand well

I apologize if this will seem short, I went to the game last night and today being Christmas Eve, I don’t exactly have a ton of time to update this.

First off, if you were at the game and saw “Happy Birthday Chris Conner” on the text screen on the jumbotron, that was me.  I was tres excited about getting to go to the game on Conner’s birthday.  All thanks to Caitlin over at Hockey Coma.

The Stars looked great through the entire game.  Scoring started just over 7 minutes into the game when Antti Miettinen, with some great puck handling got it above Carey Price, Ribeiro and Niskanen got the assists.  Brenden Morrow got a tip-in just 4 minutes later, with a pass from Ribeiro, Miettinen also got an assist.  That PBC line is really really playing well.  Poor Antti Miettinen, for the 3rd game in a row, had to serve a penalty he didn’t do when the Stars took 2 minutes for too many men.

The 2nd period had no goals, the Stars managed to kill the two penalties they took, as well as every other penalty they got in the game.

Scoring started again in the 3rd, first an unassisted goal from Ribeiro.  Then Stu Barnes added to it to give the Stars a 4-0 lead with a goal from Jeff Halpern.   Montreal managed to get one past Turco with 7 minutes left in the game, with a goal from Andrei Markov (assisted by Sergei Kostitsyn and Andrei Kostitsyn).

Mark Fistric appeared in his first NHL game ever, and played fantastic.  I was extremely impressed with him last night.

All in all, it was a great game.

The three stars were the PBC line, as expected

  1. Mike Ribeiro – 1 goal, 2 assists
  2. Brenden Morrow – 1 goal (the game winner)
  3. Antti Miettinen – 1 goal, 1 assist

I was super impressed with Fistric. I heard a lot about him during training camp, and I saw him in practice during training camp and stuff, but man, he was GOOD.
