Not a great end to 2007

The Stars had their last game of 2007.  But I wonder where the Stars I’ve become accustomed to seeing were.  Overall, the Predators showed up to play and win and the Stars were just there.  It really pains me to say that.

The Preds were aggressive, going after every loose puck they could find.  They were coming out with the wins during puck battles and their penalty kill did a hell of a job holding off our best line.  Granted, our penalty kill wasn’t exactly horrible either; we did kill off all of the Preds power plays.  The Stars weren’t as aggressive as they have been in the past games, they didn’t start getting gritty until the last 10 or so minutes of the game.   And despite the score only being 1-0 Preds, it was too little too late.  The Preds were nursing their one goal lead, and doing it well.

Former Star Dan Ellis was fantastic, he made some great saves.  Scott Nichol had a chance in the first period to put the Preds up one with a penalty shot, but Turco denied him the glory.  The only goal of the game came in the 2nd period from Jean-Pierre Dumont, assisted by Alexander Radulov and former Star Jason Arnott who is now the Predators captain.

The three stars of the game were

  1. Marty Turco (stopping 29 of 30 shots)
  2. Scott Nichol (Not really sure why?)
  3. Dan Ellis (for stopping all 22 shots)
