Every point matters..

This has been the chorus sung by everyone the past few weeks, every point matters.  How true it is if the Stars want to clinch the division title.  Currently, they are tied with San Jose with 63 points, Anaheim is right behind with 60.  Even the Phoenix Coyotes are inching their way into a playoff spot with 56 points.  San Jose also has 3 games in hand against the Stars, which makes each point in the upcoming games even more valuable.

I really don’t think anyone will know who has clinched the division until the final regular season game is played.  The last 8 games for the Stars are all against teams in our division; we play each team twice.  And when the Stars meet San Jose in San Jose on March 27th, only then will they have played the same amount of games (it will be game 77 for both teams) so getting points in that game will be essential.  The Stars also face San Jose at home for their final game of the season.  It’s definitely going to be a close, close race.  Luckily the Stars have periods where they can rest in the month of March, and they’re definitely going to need it.

I have tickets to that San Jose game in April! When I picked the game, I thought it’d be exciting because the points race will be so important and it might come down to that game. Now I’m scared that I might be right. I don’t think I can take the stress of a do-or-die game in person!

Tough divisions are a bitch. It’s going to be the last day of the season before we know who wins the NW. Here’s to the Ducks continuing to suck!
