One goal was all it took

jussihagman.jpgNiklas Hagman’s goal in the 3rd period was all it took for the Stars to win in the 4th and final match between the Stars and Minnesota Wild. Everyone played a hard game, the goalies were fantastic but Smith was superior to Nicklas Backstrom stopped all 25 shots faced for the shut out.

Minnesota definitely got some good chances, especially when Gaborik got a breakaway but Smith didn’t give up on him. Barch and Aaron Voros got into quite a scrum in the 1st period. Barch got away with 5 minutes for fighting while Voros got 5 minutes for fighting and a 10 minute game misconduct for instigating.

Before the game, the Minnesota Wild had a small ceremony to honor Mike Modano as the greatest American born goal scorer, since he got his start in Minnesota when they were the Minnesota North Stars.

The three stars of the game were

  1. Mike Smith
  2. Niklas Backstrom
