Avery’s return to MSG in Stars favor

I must say, I have gained a bit of respect for Avery to keep himself from becoming a distraction when the Stars took on the New York Rangers. Getting a 2-1 win over the Rangers felt nice.  The Rangers were off to a good start this season, starting it 5-0.

It didn’t start off too great, Eriksson took a tripping penalty and the Rangers got on the scoreboard less than a minute into the first period.  I was a tad worried then that this was just going to be a repeat of the first 5 games, but the Stars proved me wrong.  They built on what they began Saturday against the Avalanche, gelling more as a team.  Marty Turco looked a lot better and it went out from there; the defense was better, the offense was playing better defense and getting more pucks to the net.

The Stars got on the board in the second period, with Brenden Morrow getting a gritty power play goal while sitting on the ice in front of Lundqvist after a sweet feed from Fabian Brunnstrom (who is now second amoung rookies for scoring).  The Stars shut it down, keeping the quality Ranger scoring chances to a minimum and shutting down the scoring chances they did have.  Mike Modano got the game winner in the third period, with a quick shot off a rebound from Henrik Lundqvist.

Hopefully they can build even more when they take on the Devils on Wednesday, that will be interesting with Avery going back against Brodeur.

The post-game show made me laugh.  Ludy is such a fantastic role model.

If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying.  Keep doing it until you get caught.

Just cracked my shit up.

Also, before it gets too far in the season, last year I had a stat page for all the players.  Before I spend a lot of time doing that again, did anyone actually read it? lol
