Stars make a trade

February 26, 2009

Stars have traded D-man Doug Janik for a center from Montreal by the name of Steve Bégin.  So far in 42 games this season, he is 6-4-10 and has 27 PIM.

And Happy 500 posts to the blog.

Petersen out a month

February 24, 2009

Toby Petersen will be out at least a month due to a broken bone in his foot.  This couldn’t come at a worst time with all the injuries the Stars have already sustained.

In better news, the club has recalled forward Chris Conner.  Here’s hoping we get to see another round of the Neal-Modano-Conner line.

If the Stars Insider could stop showing the same Ice Girls segment every week, I’d appreciate it.

Liveblog: Stars vs. Sharks 02/23/09

February 23, 2009

So it’s no secret, my updates have definitely not been up to par lately.  I blame this on one thing; one word with 10 letters.  Addiction.  Yes, my friends I have developed a very unhealthy addiction to something called the Wii.  I have decided that the system is extremely evil (butomgiloveitsomuch), especially when playing a game that involves Yoshi.

So, here is a liveblog to force me to update as the Sharks visit Dallas.  The NHL is on Versus and The Shootout.

Before the game even starts, we get bad news the Mo is a late scratch with the flu.  This does not bode well for a team already missing 3 big names.

1st period
20:00:
Stars start with Parrish, Sutherby and Neal. That seems..interesting.

19:06: At least one line is still in tact, Ribbons with Lehts and Otter.

17:40: Oh Roenacker.  I forgot about you.

16:28: *clap clap* *clap clap* I miss games at the AAC.

16:00: Do my eyes deceive me?  Did I just see Nisky check someone?  I’m in shock.  And in need of more Red Bull.

15:00: Eriksson is out with Brunnstrom and Petersen in the middle.  That could be a promising line!  Toby’s been playing pretty well lately.

Youth hockey and a house tour

February 22, 2009

So today I had the pleasure of taking in some youth hockey at the American Airlines Center this afternoon, the Duncanville Black Bears vs. Grapevine Blackhawks.  It was a really special afternoon for many youth hockey players in the metroplex.   Not only did they get the opportunity to play on the same ice the Stars do, but to also get to sit on their benches, sit in their penalty boxes and skate onto through the very awesome Dallas Stars star complete with smoke.  It’s a really special thing for these kids, and shows a lot about the Dallas Stars ogranization. I really recommend checking out one of the many youth games at various Dr Pepper StarCenter locations.

And, to end this; here is a lovely video of a mini-tour of Casa de Turco care of his father Gino where we learn about Turco’s Trust Circle and Gino’s Oprah watching.

Shit bout to go down

February 20, 2009

It was a great 4-2 win for the Stars, but tonight, rumors about something about to go down in Montreal is all the buzz.

You can read a little about it on Mirtle’s site From The Rink.

Pensblog is reporting that Quebec radio stations are saying PD is waiting for the Habs to land.

UH OH FOLKS!  Get your popcorn.

Stars make a switch

February 19, 2009

The Stars have sent Chris Conner back to Peoria and have recalled Raymond Sawada from the Manitoba Moose.

We haven’t really gotten a chance to see Sawada here in Dallas, so I’m really excited to see him play.  I have heard great things about him.  So far this season with Manitoba, he has 5 goals and 18 points in 48 games.

Captains Driven: Brenden Morrow

February 18, 2009

NHL.com posted a new article as what I assume is a type of preview for his Captains Driven episode that airs tomorrow night on the NHL Network.

It’s a great article, and it’s nice to see others view him the way us in Dallas do.

You can read it here.

Uh oh B-Rad

February 17, 2009

I was out running errands yesterday, so I didn’t get to watch the game but I heard it.  Yay for winnings, but boo for Brad Richards leaving the game injured.

What’s even more boo about this situation, is that TSN is reporting that he has a broken wrist and could be out 6-8 weeks.  GAH.  Could we stop being attacked with injuries please?

Anyway, I recorded the game, so I’ll watch it and post a real recap tonight or tomorrow (if I can tear myself away from Mario Kart WFC that is)

6-2? That sucks.

February 16, 2009

That’s all I’m going to say about the game Saturday in Chicago.  I’m not gonna lie, I expected them to lose.  Not only had we won the game the night before in Vancouver (and usually when we have a back-to-back we win one, lose one), but it was also my birthday.  And my birthday usually consists of sitting through a Stars loss.

So, we’ll talk about happy things, like this article from the Dallas Morning News about Fishsticks.
