There’s two positives

June 30, 2009

Stars have extended an offer to Fishsticks, which makes me extremely happy.

But not as happy as them signing Jere Lehtinen to a 1-year deal.  Thank God.  I have been having nightmares about a lack of finns on this team.

Now onto nightmares of being Russianless

Liveblog: Stars vs. Kings 03/26/09 Happy Edition

March 26, 2009

You can pretty much count on these for every game remaining this season (unless a personal obligation gets in the way).  Prepare for another interesting/close game between these 2 teams.

1st period

Positive #1: Daley was at least able to leave the ice upright.

Positive #2: Kings take a penalty.  WOO!! (bout 15:00)

Positive #3: Stars managed to kill the Kings power play.  Phew

Positive #4: Fishsticks out with Robi!!!!

Positive #5: Wandell smiling at the camera.  <3

Positive #6: Kings take another penalty! (7:05)

Positive #7: Barchie finally fighting with Ivanans after he knocked Daley out of the game.

Liveblog: Stars vs. Canucks 03/24/09, Happy edition

March 24, 2009

So, I am going to liveblog the game, but only mention the positives so it’ll be a tad different.

Might be the shortest liveblog ever.

Pregame
They start with a mention of Tippett and him being safe.  As Rhadigan said “as he should be” should be included in any mention of that.  Period.

Razor is interviewing Robi, one of the few players who leaves everything he has on the ice.  Robi speaks of his infinite wisdom.  Listen grasshoppers.

Postive #1: Robi’s nose is still in tact.

1st period
Positive #2:
Luongo took a stupid pill and played the puck in the corner at 19:19.  Penalty on Vancouver

Positive #3: Begin has returned to the lineup

Postive #4: Brendan Morrison makes it 1-0 Stars, with assists from Fistric and Begin.

Positive #5: That was Morrison’s 500th NHL point, against his old team.  Good job Sonny.

Positive #6: Swede-tastic line of Lundy, Brunnstrom and Wandell.

Positive #7: Fishsticks pushes and holds Burrows on the boards(10:33).  I still hate Burrows from the 07 Playoffs.

Positive #8: Otter is getting Burrows, which pleases me greatly.  (8:02)

Positive #9: Otter half stripping in the penalty box.

Positive #10: Begin returns to the game.  Woo.

Positive #11: Somehow, the Stars managed to outshoot the Canucks 14-7

Liveblog: Stars vs. Sharks 02/23/09

February 23, 2009

So it’s no secret, my updates have definitely not been up to par lately.  I blame this on one thing; one word with 10 letters.  Addiction.  Yes, my friends I have developed a very unhealthy addiction to something called the Wii.  I have decided that the system is extremely evil (butomgiloveitsomuch), especially when playing a game that involves Yoshi.

So, here is a liveblog to force me to update as the Sharks visit Dallas.  The NHL is on Versus and The Shootout.

Before the game even starts, we get bad news the Mo is a late scratch with the flu.  This does not bode well for a team already missing 3 big names.

1st period
20:00:
Stars start with Parrish, Sutherby and Neal. That seems..interesting.

19:06: At least one line is still in tact, Ribbons with Lehts and Otter.

17:40: Oh Roenacker.  I forgot about you.

16:28: *clap clap* *clap clap* I miss games at the AAC.

16:00: Do my eyes deceive me?  Did I just see Nisky check someone?  I’m in shock.  And in need of more Red Bull.

15:00: Eriksson is out with Brunnstrom and Petersen in the middle.  That could be a promising line!  Toby’s been playing pretty well lately.

6-2? That sucks.

February 16, 2009

That’s all I’m going to say about the game Saturday in Chicago.  I’m not gonna lie, I expected them to lose.  Not only had we won the game the night before in Vancouver (and usually when we have a back-to-back we win one, lose one), but it was also my birthday.  And my birthday usually consists of sitting through a Stars loss.

So, we’ll talk about happy things, like this article from the Dallas Morning News about Fishsticks.

Mark Fistric recalled

February 14, 2009

Janik got sent to the Rockford Ice Hogs for conditioning and Fistric got called up from the Manitoba Moose and will join the team tonight in Chicago.

I’m not sure why, but we’ll pretend this is the Stars birthday present to me.

2 swedes placed on IR; TSN reviews Stars top 12 prospects

December 31, 2008

First off, Joel Lundqvist has been placed back in injured reserve, retroactive to December 20th.  Fabian Brunnstrom was also added to the injured reserve list, him retroactive to December 27th.  Joel Lundqvist is still having problems with his shoulder and Brunnstrom has a lower body injury.  (I assume it’s to his foot considering he was wearing a protective boot at practice Sunday.  You can read the full press release on the Stars website.

TSN also wrote a list of the Stars top 12 prospects. It includes James Neal, Tom Wandell, and Raymand Sawada.  They also talk a lot about one of yours truely’s favorite players, Mark Fistric.  They even refer to him as “Shrek on skates” which is a reference I make quite frequently.

Liveblog: Stars vs. Oilers 11/30/08

November 30, 2008

Why not, I have nothing else to do today.  Might as well share the pain with all the other Stars fan out there.  Liveblog will commense at 4:30, when the pregame starts.

First off, here is some good: 3 Stars players are currently on a point streak

  • Loui Eriksson is on a 4-game point streak, earning 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points
  • James Neal is on a 2-game point streak with 3 goals
  • Brad Richards is on a 3-game point streak with 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points

Yes, that is the only positive I can find right now.  See y’all when we play Edmonton.

PRE-GAME

They mention that Sergei Zubov won’t be playing tonight, out with an undisclosed injury.  Fantastic.  He took that weird hit on the boards last game.  He didn’t practice yesterday.  They mention the trade, and Ludy says his stats tell him he’s somewhat of an offensive minded defenseman and is being brought in to possibly help the offense.  Ugh.  Just what we need.  Razor says the Stars need offense, but they don’t.  They need DECENT DEFENSE!  This is our main failure this season.  Get with the program people.

Crazy hair Ric Renner is holding a mask of Razor on himself.  Wow.  I forgot it’s Ralph and Razor night at the AAC night tonight.  At least Ric Rinner understands it’s about defense.  Why is it he’s the only one who seems to be on my side?  The Stars players seem confident that they can work to get themselves into the playoffs.  Good luck guys, seriously.

Mike Modano has been moved to the wing tonight with Brad Richards at center and Loui Eriksson as the other winger.  Modano seems excited, so hopefully this is a good sign.  He seems a little too happy…..I’m scared.

And now they go to Crazy hair who is with Tippett, and Crazy Hair managed to get him to laugh.  Holy shit.  He talks about how Marty needs to play like a top player.  Which is so true.  Crazy hair mentions that when both he and Tippett wear blue they are undefeated.  Oi.  Don’t say shit like that.

And here we go…..ugh.

1ST PERIOD

20:00: Richards, Modano and Eriksson make up the opening line and Oilers start with the faceoff win.

19:30: They have Robi back with Grossman I notice as Grossman lets the puck go through his legs.

19:00: Second line is out now, Ribeiro with Avery and Neal.  Sydor and Daley on the blueline.

17:50: Janik is out with Niskanen.  Petersen, Conner and Parrish is the third line tonight.

17:10: 4th line is out. Barchie and Wilson with Ribeiro, since we really only have 3 centers tonight with Mo on the wing.  Brunnstrom hasn’t been out yet…so I wonder where they plan on putting him since he’s on the list to play tonight.

Fistric back in Dallas

November 25, 2008

While Mark Fistric is still on the roster for the Manitoba Moose, he was injured and is in Dallas to get work done on his knee.  I’m not really sure exactly what happened or how injured he is, but that is 2 of 3 for me.  Chris Conner, plz 2 b staying healthy.

Some I saw coming, one I didn’t.

November 2, 2008

The Dallas Stars have sent Mark Fistric and James Neal to the Manitoba Moose.  I could see them sending Mark Fistric to the AHL coming (As much as I love Fishsticks, I knew it was eventually going to happen), James Neal I did not.  Could this be more moving around to adjust for Sergei Zubov returning?  I guess we’ll soon find out.  They also send Chris Conner back to the Peoria Rivermen.

Stars will also be having a practice Monday at the Duncanville Stars Center from 12pm-1pm.
