Quick practice update

December 28, 2008

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of updates.  Recaps of the last 2 games are coming tomorrow, I promise.  You know how it is with the holidays, crazy crazy crazy!

Anyway, quick note: Fabian Brunnstrom did not practice today.  He left the StarCenter with a boot on his foot, but hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Practice was extremely hard hitting today, so hard hitting in fact that after a drill between Ott and Robidas, Robi had to go sit on the bench to regain himself.  Eek.  Tomorrow shall be interesting.

Some I saw coming, one I didn’t.

The Dallas Stars have sent Mark Fistric and James Neal to the Manitoba Moose.  I could see them sending Mark Fistric to the AHL coming (As much as I love Fishsticks, I knew it was eventually going to happen), James Neal I did not.  Could this be more moving around to adjust for Sergei Zubov returning?  I guess we’ll soon find out.  They also send Chris Conner back to the Peoria Rivermen.

Stars will also be having a practice Monday at the Duncanville Stars Center from 12pm-1pm.

Small Practice Update

October 26, 2008

I forgot to mention that last night at the game, we met up with the girls who run Stop Hitting Robidas!  I decided at about 2am last night to go to practice, where I happily met up with them again.

A rare outting of the Russian

A rare outting of the Russian

According to the Stars website, practice was supposed to start at noon, but when I got there just a little after, it was already over and players were slowly getting off the ice.  I did manage to see Russian skating, who apparently took part in practice today.  He was laughing, which means somewhere a lot of bunnies died.  Most of the team still on the ice looked in good spirits, despite how the season has started.  Morrow I guess officially ended the practice by knocking the goal over, laughing while doing it.  Neal and Stu then took turns trying to shoot the puck in the fallen net from the other side of the ice.

After practice, most of the players came out to sign autographs.  I will say, Barchie has quite possibly the most annoying car alarm in the universe, sorry Barchie.  Myra also overheard Daley telling some of the people in line that he was hurt.  This does not fare well for our already injury ridden team.  Also, do me a favor, and when you see Marty, tell him you still heart him even if you don’t.  He made me sad.  I just want to hug him.

According to Heika, Lundqvist is listed as day-to-day and had his arm in a sling.

Good to see some hockey again!

September 11, 2008

Since I have turned into a zombie and didn’t sleep last night, I decided to go ahead and spend my awake time wisely and head to the Frisco StarCenter to check up on the players showing up to practice.  It was a nice little turnout, despite the fact that I didn’t see Morrownator, Midget or Fishsticks.

I did, however, see Otter, Lundy, Josie Grossy, Eriksson, Petersen, Barchie, Daley, Lehtinen, Mo, Robi and Ribs.  Landon Wilson, Tyler Shelast and Dan Jancevski were there as well.  Tobias Stephan and 2 other goalies were on hand as well, Stephen in the black jersey and the other 2 in the white.  The players were having a fun, playing for the love of the game scrimmage.  Ribbons came out about 20 minutes in, eating a banana.  I don’t know why, but it made me laugh so hard.

I couldn’t help but have a huge dorky smile on my face everytime a new player came out on the ice, even if I had no idea who they were at the time.  I felt a bit stupid because they kept looking at me, seeing as I was the only person in the stands watching.  But who cares, because OMG HOCKEY!

Otter was his usual chirpy self, “WOOO”-ing when a goal was scored and hassling players on the opposite team.  Did I mention he shaved off that God awful beard?  Because he did.  The cutest thing ever was after Ribeiro scored a goal, in jest Daley came up to him to give him one of the “OMG YAY WE SCORED HUGS” you always see.

The rookies seemed like they are really going to be great this season.  I’m really excited for training camp to get a better idea of what these kids are made of.

Training camp schedule announced

September 9, 2008

The Stars have posted the Training Camp schedule for this season. Training camp begins September 19th!

Sadly, I will be out of town Sept 19th & 20th, but you best believe I will be there on the 21st before the show I’m attending that night.  Pretty sure it’ll be the best day ever: stars & my favoritest band ever.
