Anyone here?

June 12, 2012

So..It’s obviously been a while. Thanks to my shifts at work changing my hockey watching has gone to almost nilch. However, I am being laid off in less than 2 months so it looks like that will be changing. Hopefully I can return to blogging about those lovely Stars (who refuse to make the playoffs anymore it seems). I do miss it.

So..Anyone still around? haha

And congrats to the LA Kings for winning their first Stanley Cup EVER!

Stars will be picking 8th

April 15, 2009

The draft lottery was held last night, with the New York Islanders being the lucky team to get their ping pong ball picked.  So basically, nothing changes.

This means Stars will be picking 8th in this years draft; that is if they don’t trade that pick away.

Playoffs begin TONIGHT on Versus with the Flyers @ the Pens at 6pm Central time!

I’m still sad, so hopefully this cheers everyone up.  (I know I still love this)

2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

April 13, 2009

They’re here.  Not that I care all that much being that the Stars aren’t in it, I will post about it anyway.

Matches are set, and games begin Wednesday.

Eastern Conference
Boston Bruins (1) vs. Montreal Canadiens (8)

Washington Capitals (2) vs. New York Rangers (7)

New Jersey Devils (3) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (6)

Pittsburgh Penguins (4) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (5)

Western Conference

This will definitely be one to watch.

Detroit Red Wings (2) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (7)
Come on Blue Jackets!

Vancouver Canucks (3) vs. St. Louis Blues (6)

Chicago Blackhawks (4) vs. Calgary Flames (5)

Versus starts their playoff coverage Wednesday, starting with Game 1 between the Pens and the Flyers, then with the Blues in Vancouver.

Game on!

Liveblog: Stars vs. Kings 03/26/09 Happy Edition

March 26, 2009

You can pretty much count on these for every game remaining this season (unless a personal obligation gets in the way).  Prepare for another interesting/close game between these 2 teams.

1st period

Positive #1: Daley was at least able to leave the ice upright.

Positive #2: Kings take a penalty.  WOO!! (bout 15:00)

Positive #3: Stars managed to kill the Kings power play.  Phew

Positive #4: Fishsticks out with Robi!!!!

Positive #5: Wandell smiling at the camera.  <3

Positive #6: Kings take another penalty! (7:05)

Positive #7: Barchie finally fighting with Ivanans after he knocked Daley out of the game.

Liveblog: Stars vs. Canucks 03/24/09, Happy edition

March 24, 2009

So, I am going to liveblog the game, but only mention the positives so it’ll be a tad different.

Might be the shortest liveblog ever.

Pregame
They start with a mention of Tippett and him being safe.  As Rhadigan said “as he should be” should be included in any mention of that.  Period.

Razor is interviewing Robi, one of the few players who leaves everything he has on the ice.  Robi speaks of his infinite wisdom.  Listen grasshoppers.

Postive #1: Robi’s nose is still in tact.

1st period
Positive #2:
Luongo took a stupid pill and played the puck in the corner at 19:19.  Penalty on Vancouver

Positive #3: Begin has returned to the lineup

Postive #4: Brendan Morrison makes it 1-0 Stars, with assists from Fistric and Begin.

Positive #5: That was Morrison’s 500th NHL point, against his old team.  Good job Sonny.

Positive #6: Swede-tastic line of Lundy, Brunnstrom and Wandell.

Positive #7: Fishsticks pushes and holds Burrows on the boards(10:33).  I still hate Burrows from the 07 Playoffs.

Positive #8: Otter is getting Burrows, which pleases me greatly.  (8:02)

Positive #9: Otter half stripping in the penalty box.

Positive #10: Begin returns to the game.  Woo.

Positive #11: Somehow, the Stars managed to outshoot the Canucks 14-7

Peace out, yo

March 3, 2009

The New York Rangers have claimed Sean Avery off waivers.  It wasn’t a secret the Rangers wanted them back.  They were who allowed Avery to go to their farm team.

Can’t say I’m sad or that I’ll miss him.  Good Riddance.

Stars make a trade

February 26, 2009

Stars have traded D-man Doug Janik for a center from Montreal by the name of Steve Bégin.  So far in 42 games this season, he is 6-4-10 and has 27 PIM.

And Happy 500 posts to the blog.

Liveblog: Stars vs. Sharks 02/23/09

February 23, 2009

So it’s no secret, my updates have definitely not been up to par lately.  I blame this on one thing; one word with 10 letters.  Addiction.  Yes, my friends I have developed a very unhealthy addiction to something called the Wii.  I have decided that the system is extremely evil (butomgiloveitsomuch), especially when playing a game that involves Yoshi.

So, here is a liveblog to force me to update as the Sharks visit Dallas.  The NHL is on Versus and The Shootout.

Before the game even starts, we get bad news the Mo is a late scratch with the flu.  This does not bode well for a team already missing 3 big names.

1st period
20:00:
Stars start with Parrish, Sutherby and Neal. That seems..interesting.

19:06: At least one line is still in tact, Ribbons with Lehts and Otter.

17:40: Oh Roenacker.  I forgot about you.

16:28: *clap clap* *clap clap* I miss games at the AAC.

16:00: Do my eyes deceive me?  Did I just see Nisky check someone?  I’m in shock.  And in need of more Red Bull.

15:00: Eriksson is out with Brunnstrom and Petersen in the middle.  That could be a promising line!  Toby’s been playing pretty well lately.

Shit bout to go down

February 20, 2009

It was a great 4-2 win for the Stars, but tonight, rumors about something about to go down in Montreal is all the buzz.

You can read a little about it on Mirtle’s site From The Rink.

Pensblog is reporting that Quebec radio stations are saying PD is waiting for the Habs to land.

UH OH FOLKS!  Get your popcorn.

Breaking News: Marty Turco is made of win

February 13, 2009

Wow wow and wow.  Marty carried this team to another win against the Canucks.  He let in one goal from Taylor Pyatt, and after that decided that was enough.

JUMP! (For my love)

JUMP! (For my love)

But he will not be getting any love, really, other than getting the 3rd star of the game.

The Swedes were definitely out in full force, on both teams.  All 9 of them on the ice tonight played hard, and 2 of our Swedes managed to get a point.  Loui Eriksson got the first Stars goal, from Matt Niskanen and Mike Modano on a power play.  Then Loui got an assist from a great goal from Joel Lundqvist, his first goal in 11 months!  Marty Turco also got an assist.  I kept yelling at him to shoot it after the Canucks pulled their goalie, but sadly he did not hear me from my house.  One day man, one day.

The three Stars were

  1. Marty Turco
  2. Loui Eriksson
  3. Daniel Sedin

Tomorrow night the Stars will be taking on Chicago.  My memory only goes back as far as 2003, and they haven’t won on Valentine’s Day My Birthday from at least that year on. (That game sucked, btw, the one in 03.)  Cross your fingers!
